Letter writing campaigns with THONvelops is the easiest and most effective way to raise money for your organization. THON is here to provide you with the tools to make your letter writing campaign successful. We will provide free outgoing and return THONvelopes to all organizations and independent dancers.
Want to know how to plan a successful letter writing campaign? Review the following checklist!
- Begin planning your campaign, and collecting addresses, at least one month in advance. This part takes time! One of the best ways to collect addresses is asking your parents for their address book or Holiday Card address list!
- Have everyone in your organization gather the contact information of their family, friends, and neighbors—anyone they can think of!
- Download the pre-written solicitation letter here.
• This letter can be personalized to meet your needs! - Visit the THON Office to pick up your free outgoing and return THONvelopes. Try to pick up most of your organization’s THONvelopes during THONvelope distribution week!
- Have all checks made payable to the Penn State Dance Marathon. Remind the recipient to add your organization name and number to the memo section of the check.
- Thank everyone who sends a gift—this is the most important part of any fundraising campaign!
Tips and Tricks to Make Your Campaign More Successful!
- Send your letters at the end of November, right before the holiday season
- Add a handwritten note on the bottom of your letter, or on the outside of the envelope.
- Host a letter writing social with pizza, soda, ice cream, and movies
- Set a goal for the amount of letters that everyone will write
