Administrative Assistant (1)

This person is in charge of general tasks, such as recording attendance, taking minutes at all meetings, maintaining intra-committee relations, and sending out committee emails and announcements. They will also maintain the Angel website and Hospitality listserv. This organized, motivated, and friendly captain will be working very closely with the Overall. In addition, they will work with the Logistics captain to plan the THON weekend timeline and the two of them will be in charge of the Hospitality area when the Overall is not present. This person must be flexible, as many unseen circumstances arise throughout the year that will demand their time.

Appliances (1)

This person must be very organized and hard working because the position requires obtaining various highly important contracts. They will be responsible for picking up and returning all appliances during THON weekend and all pre-THON events. They are responsible for either coordinating or holding training sessions so that the Hospitality captains can learn how to use the kitchens and appliances before THON weekend. They will also be the contact for the Hospitality staff at the BJC. During THON, they will be in charge of understanding and maintaining the kitchens in the BJC and they will track all other appliances by labeling them and devising a system to check each appliance or utensil out of the Hospitality area. They are also in charge of the post-THON organization of all Hospitality products and appliances.

Beverages (1)

This captain will have extremely important contacts and therefore must be very professional and persistent. They must solicit many large donations consisting of water, juice, ice, soda, and beverage related equipment. These donations are vital to the success of THON weekend and all pre-THON events, as well as the health and safety of the dancers.

Captain Meals (3)*

These captains will get donations from companies to feed the Captains and Overalls during THON and solicit donations for other pre-THON events, such as the THON 5K and Family Carnival. They will also encourage new businesses and donors to participate in THON events. These captains will also be responsible for a committee.

Committee Coordinator (1)

This energetic, friendly, and motivated person will be in charge of organizing all of the Hospitality committees throughout the THON year and during THON weekend. This highly creative person will assist the committees in coming up with ideas to create theme meals for the dancers; this means that they will also serve as a liaison to the Morale committee. This person needs to design competitions, events, and maintain intra-committee communication as a way to boost the morale of the entire Hospitality committee. This person will also be in charge of creating the new Hospitality intra-committee kick off dinner before THON weekend and the Pink Shirt Orientation. They will work with the Logistics Captain to plan our effort for 100 Days til THON and they will need work with the Administrative Assistant and Logistics Captain on the THON weekend timeline.

Dancer Meals (2)*

These captains will collectively work on getting donations from important donors, such as ARAMARK, Irving’s and Subway. This means they need to be highly professional, friendly, and accommodating as the donors they will be handling are very important to THON. They will also be obtaining donations for pre-THON events as well as THON weekend. These captains will have a committee. Their committee will also need to be highly involved in the creation of the themes for each of the dancer meals.

Donor Relations (2)

These captains must be professional and organized. They will be in charge of planning the Corporate Appreciation Reception which is a networking event that occurs THON weekend. They will be in charge of making sure all Hospitality donors are invited to pre-THON events and THON weekend. They will also need to work closely with the captains from CR and Marketing in order to benefit companies properly. They will maintain Hospitality’s contracts and their records in THINK.

Family Relations (2)*

These captains must be friendly, energetic, professional, and organized. They are the liaison between the Family Relations committee and Hospitality. These captains delegate needs requested by the family relations committee, soliciting donations for family meals and snacks, and family hotel accommodations. They will also be responsible for additional accommodations for families, entertainment, and corporate donors that arise throughout the year. They will meet with Family Relations to book all lodging for THON weekend. These captains will also have a committee. Their committee will be in charge of coming up with an idea for the Family lounge theme and the themes for family meals.

Hospitality Needs (2)*

These captains have the goal of completing all unmet Hospitality needs. One of these captains will be in charge of working with the Fraternity Purchasing Association and the fraternity cooks to cover the areas of food the committee was not able to have donated. The other captain will be in charge of maintaining contact with various grocers in the State College area, seeking donations for gift certificates. This captain will also be in charge of the THON-wide grocery store initiative, which requires them to motivate other THON committees to solicit grocery stores in their home towns for gift cards. They will also be in charge of Morale needs. These captains must be professional and self sufficient. Along with these responsibilities these captains will have a committee to participate in all pre-THON events and help during THON weekend. Their committee will be in charge of coming up with a theme for our pre-THON all committee dinner.

Logistics Captain (1)

This captain will be in charge of coordinating Hospitality’s efforts for the 5K, Family Carnival and THON weekend. They need to be organized, responsible, and be able to stay calm in high pressure situations as the timeline is often deviated from due to outside circumstances. They will need to have a good relationship will all other captains as they will need to make sure they understand the details of their donations. They will work with the Administrative Assistant and Committee Coordinator to create the timeline for THON weekend. They will, along with the Administrative Assistant, be in charge THON weekend when the Overall is not around. They need to be able to multitask well. They will also be the OPP liaison and will work with their committee to plan our set up and break down THON weekend.

Promotions (2)*

These captains should be friendly, outgoing, professional and creative. They will be in charge of organizing promotions with local restaurants in order to build stronger relationships with the businesses in the State College community. They will be required to maintain our current promotions and pitching new promotion ideas to existing and new donors. They will also both be in charge of working with both the Public Relations and Communications committees to come up with new and exciting ideas to get the whole community involved in our promotional events. They will also work with the Finance captains to coordinate our money made through promotions. Their committee will help to be the creative force and man power behind the promotional days.

Snacks (2)*

These captains will obtain snack donations from many local restaurants and corporations. The donations received by the Snacks captains are needed during pre-THON events and especially during THON weekend to give dancers the extra energy boost they need during and between meals. They will also have a committee. They will be in charge of coming up with an original design for the Snack Shack and creating a video to explain that it is open to the dancers. They will need to also come up with a plan to maintain the Snack Shack throughout THON weekend.
