What's It Like to Be A Part of THON

For more than 13 years, the people of Bank of America are proud to be the leading corporate sponsor of the Penn State Dance Marathon. As the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, we are continually impressed with these young adults dedication and unparalleled support toward conquering childhood cancer through The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State's Children's Hospital in Hershey. I first became aware of PSU THON when my son decided to be one of the dancers for the event. In support, my company made a contribution. But when I witnessed the Dance Marathon and the efforts thousands of Penn State students to benefit pediatric cancer patients and their families, I was totally overwhelmed. The weekend event is grueling for both the dancers and the students who co-ordinate the feeding, entertainment, and security for those dancers. But it is the kids and their families and hearing their stories, both successes and losses, and seeing the students give their time and their hearts to these children. That is the true motivation for contributing to THON each year.

As a locally owned and operated family business in State College, we feel that it is our responsibility to give back to our community. From the very first year that we opened our first Subway in State College, we chose to become sponsors of THON. Over the past 19 years as our business has grown, so has our support for THON.
