These are the events that are held throughout the year in order to spread awareness on campus, build excitement among the student population, and engage your family! Please join us at all of these events! Please click on each program to learn more and register. We ask that families complete the registration for each program by the due date provided in the description.
Harvest Day

Join us for the 13th Annual Harvest Day at Harner Farm! This event is hosted by the Family Relations Captain Committee and it is the first opportunity for us to meet your family. As in past years, the Harner family has generously donated their farm to us for this event. Family Relations would like to invite you to this exciting day filled with pumpkin picking, hay mazes, new friends, and fun! Harvest Day has gained a lot of popularity in the past couple of years, and if you attend you will surely see why! This celebration kicks off the THON season at Penn State and builds relationships that will last throughout the entire THON season!
The Family Relations Committee is looking forward to meeting you, working with you throughout the year, and sharing the excitement that is THON weekend. Throughout this year, you will get to know the Family Relations Committee and the Overall Committee very well, and what a better way to meet than at a relaxing day at Harner Farm!

Directions to Harner Farm: From Rte. 322 W take Business/Atherton Street exit to College Avenue (Rt. 26 South). Turn left onto West College Avenue and proceed approximately two miles through four traffic lights. Harner Farm will be on your right, about 1/2 mile after the fourth traffic light. The farm is located on the corner of West College Avenue and Whitehall Road (across from a large Uni-Mart).
THON 5K
Sunday, October 23rd, 2011, Corner of University Dr. and Curtin Rd., University Park
Join the Penn State and THON community at the 11th Annual THON 5K and 7th Annual Kids’ Race! The 5K has transformed into one of the largest THON events of the year and it has become a true crowd favorite! The day will include music provided by DJ Larry Moore, food, great races, and prizes for participants! The 7th annual Kids’ Race will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the corner of Curtain and University Roads. Kids 10 and under can participate and will be accompanied by the Special Events and Family Relations captains!
Following the Kids’ Race and prior to the start of the 5K, a Four Diamonds family will speak to kick off the race, and provide inspiration to the 5K participants. The race will begin at 11:30 a.m., with runners taking off on the course around the Penn State campus. Walkers are welcome to participate as well!
There is no charge for Four Diamonds children and siblings participating in the Kids Race or family members participating in the fun run/walk; however, each participant must complete the registration form accompanied in the mailer that is sent out. Any family member who wishes to participate in chip timing must register on the form and pay $3 at the registration table the day of the event.
You may register your family through the link you received in your online Mailer. If you receive your Mailer by mail, you may register by filling out the hard copy form. Registration is due by October 14th, 2011 but if you are registered before September 18th, your Four Diamonds Child will receive a free THON FT5K t-shirt! An awards ceremony will take place after the 5K, so plan to stick around! Additional details can be found on the THON 5K flyer. You can find parking behind the Shields Building, Bryce Jordan Center and Beaver Stadium. Family Carnival

Come join Penn State students on the Penn State campus to celebrate the new THON season, meet up with old friends, and create new bonds at the 16th Annual Family Carnival! Relive the spirit of THON with a small taste of THON weekend, filled with your favorite organizations and volunteers!
Overview of the carnival’s events:
- Participate in the fun carnival games provided by THON committees and music provided by DJ Larry Moore!
- Relax, catch up and meet other Four Diamonds families, and enjoy great food provided by the THON Hospitality Committee in the Family Lounge.
- Record a video message to the dancers of THON 2012! These messages will be compiled into a video that will be shown THON Weekend during the dancers toughest hours!
- Vote on the color of the THON Family t-shirt, which you will receive during THON weekend. You will also have the chance to win a pair of Road to THON Celebration Dinner tickets in a raffle.
- See the THON 2012 logo revealed at the conclusion of the carnival!
Please RSVP here by November 4th, 2011. Please remember to register for the Adopt-A-Family Program on your THON Registration form and mail it to the Four Diamonds Office by October 4th so that you can share this awesome day with your paired organization!

Teen Nights
Teen Nights are a great way for Four Diamonds families with any children over the age of 13 to get to know each other and the Family Relations Committee better! Please check back here soon to find out about the Teen Nights coming up and sign-up for them as well. Some events we have had in the past include a day at Hershey Park and bowling!
New Family Orientation
New Family Orientation (NFO) is an event held at Hershey for new Four Diamonds Families to get acquainted with THON and prepare them for THON weekend in February. A thorough and informative presentation will be given to parents, while children will get to have fun and play games with the Family Relations Captains. Lunch will also be served! THON Hoops
THON Hoops is a fun-packed day with the Family Relations Committee, Overall Committee, and the Penn State Men’s Basketball team! The game will be held at the Bryce Jordan Center - another chance to get excited about THON 2012! Spirit Week
THON Skate
Skate FTK! At the Penn State Ice Pavilion on Saturday January 14th from 12-3! Music by DJ Larry Moore. 5 dollars to enter, 2 dollars for skate rentals. Benefits THON!
THON Bowling
Cosmic bowling FTK at Northland Bowl on Tuesday January 17th from 8:30pm-12am. $3.50 per game, benefits THON
Band Bash
THON Band Bash FTK Thursday January 19th from 7pm-10pm in Heritage Hall in the HUB. Watch your favorite local talents battle it out to play THON Weekend! This is a free event
